2009 Commonwealth Award
On January 13, 2009, The Barbara Lee Family Foundation received the Commonwealth Award for Cultural Philanthropy presented by the Massachusetts Cultural Council. The award is the state's highest honor in arts and culture. The Commonwealth Award honors individuals and organizations that have made extraordinary contributions to Massachusetts' communities, economy and quality of life.

Pine Manor College Honorary Degree
Barbara Lee received an honorary degree from Pine Manor College for her work in conceiving, directing and providing funding for projects to achieve social change. 2003 Opening Doors Award
In 2003, Barbara Lee received the Opening Doors Awards presented by the Women's Institute for Housing and Economic Development. The awards ceremony recognizes and honors individuals who have demonstrated a willingness to give their time, energy, passion and/or financial support to holding doors open for low-income women working to create long-term solutions to break the cycle of poverty for their families. The Women's Institute for Housing and Economic Development honors individuals who have shared their strength and knowledge with others in a manner that grants authority to and recognizes the power and dignity of women. George Alden Dean Leadership Award
Established by the Women's Campaign School at Yale University, this award commemorates George A. Dean's extensive work to advance women in elective office. The inaugural award was presented to Lee at the Woman Campaign School's 2003 Annual Meeting Awards Dinner, "Celebrating 10 Years of Excellence."
