Di San Luca Films is producing "Our City of Dreams," a feature length documentary film exploring the creative spaces of five contemporary women artists. These women span different generations and represent diverse cultures. Situated in the present day, this film creates a portrait of five artists engaged in the complex political and gender discourse that surrounds them and their work.
The artists profiled include: Nancy Spero, who was at the forefront of the feminist movement of the late 50s and 60s and whose work continues to question sexual identity; Marina Abramovic, one of the pioneers of performance art whose work responds to contemporary environmental and cultural issues; Kiki Smith, a leading artist who addresses philosophical, social and spiritual aspects of the human body; Ghada Amer, who paints erotic canvases in traditional needle and thread; and Swoon, one of New York's most promising emerging artists. Filmed over the course of one year, Chiara Clemente observes these artists in their studios and travels with them as they journey around the world.
