She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry (2012)

The Barbara Lee Family Foundation supported the fascinating documentary, “She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry.” This film tells one of the most important stories of the 1960s: the rebirth of feminism. In 1966, a group of professional and labor union women founded the National Organization for Women (NOW) to fight for legal equality. Then younger women, frustrated with their second class status in civil rights and peace groups, started a new movement, called women’s liberation. This film tells the story of these unsung heroes who learned to fight back with humor, and sometimes with fury, daring to be “bad.”
