We have made long-term investments to ensure our partners’ future viability and the future fulfillment our mission through our endowments at Simmons College, Harvard University, and the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (ICA).
Two nonpartisan political training programs for women, the Barbara Lee Women in U.S. Politics Training Program and Lecture Series Endowment Fund at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and the Barbara Lee Family Foundation Intern Fellowship Program at Simmons College help build the pipeline of future women candidates and elected leaders by giving women hands-on experience and training.
As the vibrant home of contemporary art in Boston, the ICA is committed to showcasing the work of women contemporary artists. Our endowment supports the museum’s efforts to add works by women contemporary artists to its permanent collection.
Simmons College
Desirae Simmons interned with Massachusetts State Representative Gloria Fox through the Barbara Lee Family Foundation Intern Fellowship Program at Simmons College. “I got used to being prepared for anything,” she says.
The Barbara Lee Women in U.S. Politics Training Program and Lecture Series provides a select group of Harvard students with the training and support they need to rise through the ranks at the local, state and national levels. Recent graduate, Varina Winder had this to say about program: “In addition to the women experts who teach and mentor us, Oval Office brings together a peer network of impressive, driven women classmates who provide great inspiration and support.”
Our partnership with the ICA adds a vibrant element to Boston's cultural life. The museum is committed to showcasing women contemporary artists, including recent exhibitions of work by Roni Horn and the late Louise Bourgeois. The 325-seat Barbara Lee Family Foundation Theater showcases video and live performances.
