GlobalGirl Media is dedicated to empowering high school age girls from under-served communities around the world through media, leadership and journalistic training to have a voice in the global media universe and their own futures. GlobalGirl Media invests in girls to become their own agents of change in bridging the gender digital divide, providing concrete skills with which to improve their personal situations. GlobalGirl Media supplies the equipment, education and support necessary to help young women become digital and blog journalists, bringing their own unique perspective to the global web and social media community.

The Barbara Lee Family Foundation partnered with GlobalGirl Media in 2016 on their innovative #GIRLS GO VOTE project. Through #GIRLS GO VOTE, young women around the United States will investigate the issue of women’s political leadership. Girls will receive media training and will set up a series of interviews with first-time or newly elected female officials and candidates. The resulting videos will also include interviews with people on the street and the girls themselves discussing the women’s political leadership. The goal is to promote civic engagement, youth leadership and democracy building in traditionally under-served communities through the experience of participatory media.
