Barbara Lee Family Foundation Launches Website,
Hub for Women in Politics Research

CAMBRIDGE, MA: The Barbara Lee Family Foundation today launched a new website showcasing its 12 years of nonpartisan political research, strategic partnerships, and grantmaking to advance women’s equality and representation in American politics and in the field of contemporary art. The website can be found at www.barbaraleefoundation.org.

“This website is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in women and politics,” says Barbara Lee, the foundation’s founder and president. “Now women candidates, elected officials, and other leaders can get advice on a range of campaign issues from debate preparation to developing an economic plan with the click of a mouse.”

A key feature of the website is the foundation’s Governor’s Guidebooks, which are practical, research-based guides for women running at all levels of office. These guides are searchable in multiple formats on the website—by year, topic, and keyword—to maximize their usefulness to women running for office on both sides of the aisle. The foundation focuses on women governors to help build the pipeline of women with executive experience—a key asset when running for president.

The website also gives a comprehensive look at the foundation’s Women in Politics and Contemporary Art programs, including partnerships with the Center for American Women in Politics at Rutgers University (CAWP), Women’s Media Center, and the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA). Endowments at Simmons College in Boston, Harvard University, and the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston also are featured.

The Barbara Lee Family Foundation advances women’s equality and representation in American politics and in the field of contemporary art through political research, strategic partnerships, and grantmaking. The foundation’s work in both program areas is guided by the core belief that women’s voices strengthen our democracy and enrich our culture.
