In 2016, Wheaton College hosted its first Elect Her workshop and served approximately 50 college women. Wheaton College was the only Elect Her site in Massachusetts, where women make up only 26% of the state legislature. This percentage has not significantly increased in the past 20 years, mirroring the slow pace of political advancement for women’s representation nationally. At Wheaton College, Elect Her can empower college women by providing them with the confidence and the skills they need to run for office earlier in life.
